911 S 2.4
5 Speed Manual
Porsche 911 S/T.
This great 911, UK registered CTV 348K (German plate was LA-JZ 911) a 2.9 litre
horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine, RSR specification five-speed transmission
four-wheel independent suspension and upgraded braking system.
This Porsche 911 comes from an extensive UK-based collection that comprises everything from 1950s sports racers to modern super cars. It was purchased in 2002
by the current owner as a standard 2.4S, which is arguably one of Porsche's best vintage 911s, in its most desirable specification. First registered on 28th February 1972, this 911 has well-documented history. It has an old, detailed German logbook of a previous owner, Hubert Sedlmaier, who noted every journey in his ownership, the date it was made, fuel used and the kilometres traveled. When the current owner purchased the car he sent it directly to Autofarm, who overhauled the car to be in perfect order. However, as an enthusiast of high performance cars, he wanted to use his Porsche on track days and decided to upgrade the standard specification of the car. As a purist, however, he embarked on this project with no regard for expense, using some of the best engine builders in the classic Porsche circles.
First and foremost, the engine was upgraded from the standard 2.4 litre configuration
(with an output of 190 bhp) to 2.9 litre configuration, giving the car an output of 265 bhp in its current tune. It should be noted, however, that the engine has recently been detuned to make it more usable on the road and is capable of producing more power if required.
Next, the gearbox was rebuilt to RSR specification, using RSR first and second gears. To give the car a more aggressive look, save weight and allow for a large oil cooling system to be mounted in the front of the car, the front and rear bumpers were also replaced with lightweight 2.7 RS units, the four outer wings are genuine steel items, fitted by Canford Classics. The standard wheels have been replaced with 15-inch Fuchs wheels - eight inches wide in front and the rears are nine inches, as per the ST factory cars - which give the car better road holding but also put more rubber on the road to cope with the extra power. Given the upgraded performance, the braking system also needed attention and was therefore completely revised with blue ceramic pads as well as forced air cooling via purpose-made cowls, vents and ducting. Larger anti-roll bars were fitted to give the car more stability and less body roll. For improved safety and structural rigidity, a full roll cage was installed as well as a front cross strut brace and crash box structure in the bonnet area. As for the interior, the original seats were replaced with GT Classic race seats and harnesses.
In 2017 / early 2018, BS Motorsport carried out a full engine and gearbox re-build, which is fully detailed in the history file of the car, the works and costs were;
Oil Pipes £726
Gearbox / diff £11,924.93
Engine re-build £20,179.91
New Fuel Tank
And other work £6,740.40
Dyno set up £989.71
The car has since gone back to BS Motorsport for a service and tune up following it having covered 1000 miles, since this the car has had little work.
The car "runs beautifully" and is ready to be enjoyed on the track or simply as a very fast continental tourer, as it is also fitted with a long-range RSR specification fuel tank and an auxiliary ventilation system for the cabin. This "Café Racer" Porsche 911 S/T is sure to give it's new owner great satisfaction. The extra performance of the car combined with the unaltered classic 1970's look give this 911 the best of both worlds.
